1. Kansa Wand Review

The Kansa Wand is an all-natural, non-electric massager made of Kansa bronze (a mixture of copper and tin). It is a hygienic type of metal and has no risky or adverse reaction.

Kansa Wand is highly recommended in Ayurveda, the ancient natural medicine of India, and it has heaps of client´s positive feedback.

Kansa is a good magnetic conductor and heat retainer. It gives a nice warming feeling on the skin during its use and it does not feel like metal at all; it seems more like a hand rubbing the skin. It is also known as a healing metal as it removes toxins from the skin.

Kansa metal does not stain and it is long-lasting.

The Kansa metal is used in massage and rejuvenation as it has a very soothing feel. The face does feel energised after its use. This is a perfect tool for your daily self-care routine.

The Kansa tool slides on the skin even without oils; however, it is recommended to use some oil especially if you have dry skin.

How To Use The Kansa Wand?

Clean the face, and then apply a bit of oil before using the Kansa wand. Work on one side of your face, following the acupressure points. Then move onto the other side.

If you are doing a self-massage, you can prolong the movements where you need it most, perhaps you spend long hours on the computer and you need to work your eye area more.

Because the acupressure points on your face do reflect the tissues on your whole body, it does feel like you are getting a full body massage. This occurs especially if you are on the receiving side and another person is giving you the treatment, as at this GLORIOUS MOMENT you tend to let go and relax more.

Besides the face, you can also use the Kansa Wand for the body, to relieve headaches and other muscular tension.

Notice: You may notice some grey colour on your skin whilst using the Kansa Wand. This is normal if you have toxins or excess acidity in the skin. The greyish colour can be easily removed afterwards with a damp cloth or with some oil.

A good quality Kansa Wand also makes a perfect gift to give to friends or family members who are in the massage business, or if you know they love taking care of their skin and beauty.

Bring a healthy circulation and glow to your face.

2. Jade Roller with Gua Sha

Instagram trendy since 2018, the Jade roller is a handheld tool with a jade stone at one end or both ends.

The Gua Sha is a flat stone with different curves to fit into areas of your face.

Both the Jade Roller and the Gua Sha have been used in ancient Chinese Medicine and are much used for self-care in Asian countries today. In my opinion, the two should be used together as they have a very different function when you apply them to the face.

The jade stone (nephrite) is known to heal and purify, however, the benefits in using the roller or gua sha are the initial cooling impact as the stone touches the skin and the following heating effect after use.

How to Use A Jade Roller and Gua Sha?

THE JADE ROLLER is a gentle massager.

When using the jade roller, you really do not need to press hard; a soft gentle roll is enough to get the circulation going. If you wish to give particular attention to certain areas on your face, then increase the number of strokes on the area but not the strength.

The movement with the Jade Roller should be rolling outwards first and then inwards.

The roller has two stones, one on each side, of different sizes, and you can alternate in use depending on which area on your face you are working on. I like the cooling effect of the stone on the eyelids and around the eye. It is nearly soothing.

For better results, you can also leave the jade roller in the freezer for a few hours before use.

The Jade roller can also be used over a sheet mask. Just place the mask on your face and then roll the jade over it.

THE GUA SHA is a synonym for scraping and the massage reaches deeper into your tissues.

The Gua Sha is very easy to use as it fits into your face contour. Then you glide it along in outward movements starting from the middle of your face. Let´s say you start with your chin, place it in the middle part and massage outwards, do the same movement on the cheeks, start with the inner area close to your nose and continue towards your ear, and so on.

The massage tends to be rougher with the Gua Sha than the Jade Roller as it embraces the area you are rubbing and it has a pulling and scraping effect, hence the name.

What Can I Use Instead of a Gua Sha?

The scraping method can also be done by using the back of a spoon and it´s called spooning. Let´s say you have already placed your order for the Gua Sha, and whilst waiting for it to arrive, you can put 2 spoons in the fridge and practice with them.

Back to the Gua Sha, you will know that the scraping is working on you, as immediately you feel that tingling on your skin due to blood circulation. The cooling effect facilitates circulation and reduces puffiness. I like the redness on the cheeks after the massage. It shows the blood is circulating. The skin feels plump and healthy.

Disinfect both the roller and the Gua Sha after each use.

LLLT (low level laser therapy) or Cold Therapy Lasers

An easy way of stimulating acupressure and acupuncture points faster is by using a vibrating tool or a cold laser pointer. There are no needles involved as in acupuncture and you will still obtain the same benefits.

Here´s how the low-level laser works;

The devices are usually handheld size. They are called in different ways; cold laser, red laser or low-level laser.

To use it, you just bring the device to the pressure point on your face and hold it there for a while, or make small circular movements.

It is called a cold laser as it does not generate any heat and does not damage the skin. The red light from the laser is healing and rejuvenating as it enters the skin and stimulates the cells to regenerate. It is an all-natural healing process.

Facial Massage Tools – Do I need The Three Tools?

The above tools are not appropriate to alleviate problem skin conditions like psoriasis, acne or eczema and it is not recommended to use them if you have any of these conditions, as it may spread the bacteria (unless recommended by a professional).

These are beauty tools that if used correctly, together with your favourite facial oils, serums and creams, will help to increase the blood circulation on your face and neck.

After frequent use,

  • your facial skin will look firmer, glowing and radiant,
  • you will have a more relaxed and refreshed complexion,
  • your whole face contour will look smoother and
  • you will also notice less puffiness.

Ideally, you will have one manual tool and one electric tool at home, simply for the comfort of use. When you have ample time to pamper yourself it is nice to do a ritual where you cleanse your face first or apply a sheet mask and do the face massage afterwards, using the manual tool.

However, if you come back from a long day´s work, then the electric tool is quicker and easier to use, and you do not require a lot of energy to apply it. Just place it on different acupressure points on your face and it will do the work for you.

I hope you find the above information useful. Let me know if you have used any of the above mentioned facial tools and which one is your favourite.

  1. Great article here and I know that both I and my wife would find this very helpful. Most especially the fact that both of us suffer from stress eyes puff. I know about the use of the jade stones too but I never knew of the Gua Sha. so, buying the Jade Roller with Gua Sha would be awesome combination going by the health benefits pointed out here. Thumbs up to you for sharing

    1. Thank you Rodarrick. It’s ok to work hard but we shouldn’t forget to take care of ourselves, and this is not only about beauty but also keeping healthy. Cheers!

  2. No, I have never used any of those tools but I am looking forward to making use of them because many people have been talking about the face massager but I didn’t know that it was a thing. I will like to give it a try though especially since my research led me to your post. Thank you very much for this and also for showing different types of products here.

  3. I read your article with great interest. I am a strong believer that the largest organ we have in terms of area, our skin, undergoes a lot of stress and even abuse. It needs to be cared for much like we care for our other organs like the heart and liver. If they get damaged, our health can deteriorate.

Skin care products are very familiar to me and I use them often. One of the things I have not used are massage and photo generation tools. I like the ways these three tools help the skin in complimentary ways.

Using light to  aid the skin is familiar to me. I suffer from psoriasis. Before I was prescribed biologics, the doctor prescribed me to undergo UV photo therapy. Using low power IR as explained by the video, together with massage to the face makes sense to me.

I wish you much success by introducing others to these techniques. Although you target women, I feel men could also benefit from these products. Skin is skin no matter what the gender.

    1. Hi Edwin, that is so true, the skin is our outer protective organ and we have to pamper it well. Thank you for sharing your experience here. Have a lovely evening.

  4. My girlfriend has been telling me about this awesome stuff she calls the face massaging tool. I thought it was some kind of big machine. I didn’t know that it was this small in real life. I think that Right now, I do not have a choice but to get it for her but she already has this notion that the product is one that can really help her with some facial issues like acne. I will need to show this post to her so she understands better.

    1. Hi John, I don’t think it’s wise to use the tools on the face if there’s acne. In this case it is always better to check with the doctor. Thank you for your interest.

  5. Well I have the jade stone with me already and as such, I need not get another again. I feel it is more important that I get another one that can help compliment my facial desire and also to give me that satisfactory look. great one you have shared here and I would not mind getting the low level laser therapy. adding that up too would help make a great difference.

    1. Hi Bella, it’s kind of one compliments the other or you use them alternatively. They are doing the same job and then we always have our preferences. Thank you for coming to my blog.
